Welcome to the Cheese Dairy Saignelégier SA

The Cheese Dairy Saignelégier was founded in 1995 and has become the largest of the nine TÊTE DE MOINE production sites. With the new building our cheese specialists have been able to transfer and preserve the traditional values of TÊTE DE MOINE making to that modern production site.

The production manager, Jean-Philippe Brahier, and 6 employees process roughly 6.2 million kg of milk each year supplied by 80 milk producers from Saignelégier, Les Pommerats, Montfaucon, Clos du Doubs and Champoz. From that milk -characterised by its herbal aroma- about 650,000 wheels of TÊTE DE MOINE are produced each year. The cheese is stored and cared for in the cheese cellars until put onto the market by the cheese dealer Emmi AG. An average of 230,000 wheels of the unique TÊTE DE MOINE mature in our cheese cellar in Saignelégier.

Individual visitors may pop in on Fridays from 3-5 pm, and during the summer and autumn holidays from Monday to Friday. Groups are welcome from Monday to Saturday upon prior phone of fax booking (phone +41 32 952 42 20, fax + 41 32 952 42 29). You may peek into the modern production site and watch a video about the art of making TÊTE DE MOINE. Taste our cheese speciality on site and buy some yourselves. We are looking forward to welcoming you in Saignelégier.
